Rotifers are simple microscopic multi-cellular animals (less than a 1000 cells). They have a crown (corana) of cilia (hairs) at the front to move and filter food. They also have a foot at the rear that secretes a sticky substance that allows them to attach to surfaces.
They also use their corona to direct food into their gut. The food passes through a jaw called the mastax which looks a bit like a beating heart but isn't. They also have light sensitive red spots for primitive eyes.
NOTE: No males have ever been observed in the Bdelloid class of rotifers which reproduce exclusively asexually!
